About Me
I am a petite, middle-aged woman who lives with my husband and our 17-lb cat on the Oregon coast. I love to be challenged, and recently have found my “real” job is not satisfying my challenge craving. (It’s good I work for myself.)
Over the past year there have been several emotional situations that has left me unorganized and somewhat lost. It is my hope I will be able to recoup my thirst for adventure, my desire for the unknown and my interest in the world around me.
For the past 28 years, I have been a Graphic Designer. In 1988, I started my own company and have been working steadily at churning out logos, brochures and most recently (10 years) websites. But I am growing tired of the daily challenge set forth by ignorance in the design process. Creativity takes time, but with the introduction of computers the market has become saturated with Professional and “would-be” designers. Turnaround times have shortened to almost be non-existant. And the Internet is “free”, according to most people.
I am not complaining, really, but showing my age. I desire the time when turnaround times for concepts was a week, and professional designers had a niche. The computer has been quite a blessing, to be sure. But I am starting to wind down from my position in the market and, within 10 years, it will be time to let someone else take over the reins.
So I set this challenge for myself. To explore areas I have wanted to explore and challenge myself to come out of my comfort zone. Granted, this won’t be rocket science or a cure for cancer, but it will be a journey of re-discovering myself– to look at the world, with all its possibilities — to be “young” again.
